There will be an opening reception on Friday, June 21, from 6-8pm, at 2 Depot Street. Situated in the antique train station, this year’s exhibition event is held in the vibrant yet traditional gallery space featuring paintings of the rivers by six Western Massachusetts artists, along with important environmental literature.

The River Art Project will host a panel discussion with the directors of each organization to discuss the future of river awareness and protection. The panel discussion will take place from 6-7:30pm. Moderated by Ruth Dinerman, the panelists include: Paul Gallay, President of Hudson Riverkeeper, Tim Gray, Housatonic Riverkeeper/Director of Housatonic River Initiative and Dennis Regan, Housatonic Valley Association’s Berkshire Director.

Refreshments served before and after lecture

President and Hudson Riverkeeper Paul Gallay will give a special presentation during The River Art Project exhibition on Saturday, June 17th at 4:00 pm. Using examples from Riverkeeper’s current work and recent clean water victories, Paul will discuss how people-driven advocacy and grass roots efforts can have a “trickle up” effect in gaining government support to protect our waterways and drinking water. After the talk, there will be time for questions from the audience and refreshments will be served.
